Summary:

Aging—it happens to the best of us! But what if we could make the later years not just longer, but better? As the global population ages, understanding and improving the well-being of older adults is more important than ever. Behavioral gerontology, a specialized field within applied behavior analysis (ABA), offers evidence-based strategies to enhance quality of life, promote independence, and address aging-related changes. From tackling the challenges of neurocognitive decline to boosting social engagement and identifying preferences (spoiler-it’s not just Bingo), we’ll explore real-world examples backed by research. This session will leave you with practical insights and interventions to make aging a little smoother—and a lot more enjoyable!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will identify two interventions for aging adults.
  2. Participants will identify two types of assessments that can be used when supporting independence with aging adults.
