PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION:
A legislative initiative is being proposed that affects all licensed behavior analysts in Arizona. The goal of the proposed legislation is to relocate the board governing the licensing of BCBAs from the Board of Psychologists Examiners to the Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. The primary purpose for the move is to achieve greater self-governance for behavior analysts, as well as to achieve parity with regard to the scope of practice with other behavioral health practitioners.
This presentation will describe the historical background of how and why licensing for BCBAs was achieved and why licensure for behavior analysts was placed under the jurisdiction of the Psychology Board. The discussion will feature the reasons for moving the licensing authority to the Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as well as the strategies for achieving the proposed outcome.
Presenters will include David Giles, Ph.D.; Dan Davidson, Ph.D. BCBA; Jessica Reese M.A. BCBA (Intermountain Centers for Human Development); and Bryan Davey, Ph.D., BCBA (Highland Behavioral).
