2025 Annual Conference

CAll for papers and poster submission

AzABA's 2025 Annual Conference will take place November 13th - 15th at Wild Horse Pass Hotel in Chandler, Arizona; virtual attendance will also be available! All call for papers and poster presenters must be in person. 

Poster sessions will be held Friday afternoon during our networking hour.  

The deadline for submissions is April 30th.

The AzABA Call for Papers Review Committee will review submissions and accepted submissions will be notified by May 30th.

Submitted topics must be behavior analytic in nature and align with AzABA's Mission and Values.

AzABA's Mission: The Arizona Association for Behavior Analysis (AzABA) is a scientific and professional reference group for all in Arizona who identify themselves as scientists or practitioners in disciplines that embrace the principles and practices of behavior analysis. AzABA provides a platform for members to engage in networking, continuing education, public policy, scientific research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. AzABA serves as an advisor to political, legislative, and policy-making bodies with respect to all matters pertaining to behavior analysis in Arizona.

Poster Session Requirements and Best Practices

Poster Size and Layout Requirements: 3’10” by 3’10” or 36" by 48"
Submissions must include a 150–200-word abstract. A photograph of your poster will be requested upon selection at a later date.

Best practice guidelines for creating and presenting a successful poster:

  1. Clear and Concise Title: Your title should accurately reflect the content of your research and be easy to understand.

  2. Logical Layout: Organize your poster in a logical flow, typically following the structure of your research (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion).

  3. Visual Appeal: Use a clean and visually appealing design with clear fonts, graphics, and colors. Avoid clutter and excessive text.

  4. Readability: Ensure that text is legible from a distance. Use large font sizes for headings and important points.

  5. Graphics and Visuals: Incorporate relevant charts, graphs, tables, images, and diagrams to illustrate key findings and concepts. Make sure they are high quality and clearly labeled.

  6. Brief Text: Keep text concise and focused. Use bullet points or short paragraphs to convey information.

  7. Engagement: Prepare a brief oral summary of your poster to deliver to viewers who stop by. Be ready to engage in discussions and answer questions about your research.

  8. Contact Information: Include your name, affiliation, and contact information (e.g., email) so interested parties can follow up with questions or collaborations.

  9. Practice: Practice your presentation beforehand to ensure you can effectively communicate your research in a brief and engaging manner.

  10. Arrive Early: Arrive early to set up your poster and ensure everything is in order before the session begins.


Submission Rubric for Reference

  • Does the poster align with the conference theme or session topic?
  • Is the research timely and relevant to the field?
  • Is the title clear and descriptive?
  • Are the objectives of the study clearly stated?
  • Is the poster well-organized with logical flow (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion)?
  • Are key points and findings clearly presented?
  • Is the research question clearly defined?
  • Does the research offer new insights or perspectives?
  • Allows for high engagement and potential impact on attendees.
  • Does the abstract display correct spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and grammar?
  • Is the poster controversial in nature or could potentially cause harm to a marginalized community?
  • If a preview of the poster is provided with submission: Is the layout visually appealing and easy to follow?
  • Are fonts, colors, and graphics used effectively?
  • Are images, charts, graphs, and tables clear and relevant? (Not Scored)
