Summary:

This event will be an interactive peer group designed for Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to help deepen their understanding and application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) through the use of the Portland Model framework. This session will focus on enhancing psychological flexibility, integrating the core ACT principles with behavior analytic practices, and developing collaborative coaching skills. Through guided discussion, experiential exercises, and peer feedback, participants will learn practical strategies to support clients in aligning behavior with values while maintaining ABA conceptual integrity.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will accurately identify and apply the six core processes of ACT during role play scenarios to increase psychological flexibility in themselves and their clients.
  2. Participants will demonstrate how ACT strategies can be aligned with functional analysis and behavior-change principles, ensuring interventions remain conceptually consistent with ABA.
  3. Participants will give feedback to their peers by providing at least two constructive feedback points during peer coaching exercises and collaboratively refine ACT-based interventions with group members.
