Providers of behavior analytic services often report that the services they provide are evidence-based, or that they provide evidence-based practices (EBPs). In fact, there are thousands of studies describing treatments for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) that have been reviewed by researchers who have identified various methodologies as an EBP (e.g., NAC, 2009, 2015; Wong et al., 2014).  While these methodologies have been found to be EBPs, we as behavior analysts tend to see them as a noun instead of a verb, that is, we use the list of EBPs as an object that we have and not what we do as part of our professional activities. The purpose of this presentation is to describe the ethical considerations we have as behavior analysts within the context of the treatment of individuals with ASD through the use of an EPB framework. Additionally, we will discuss how an EBP framework should be taught to supervisees. While ASD is used as a platform from which this topic will be discussed, the EBP framework is generalizable to mental health, school consultation, medical services, and organizational behavior management. Finally, we will discuss how the use of of an EBP applies the meet individuals rights to effective treatment.
