Arizona Autism Charter School (AZACS) is the first tuition-free, public charter school in Arizona focused on the educational needs of children with autism. AZACS was unanimously approved by the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools and is currently serving grades K-8 in Metro Phoenix.
The Arizona Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities, provides long term care for developmentally disabled individuals. The Arizona Training Program at Coolidge opened in 1952 as the Arizona Children’s Colony. Since that time the program has evolved into the state’s largest intermediate care
facility (ICF) for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Six ICF’s house 63 residents. The
program maintains CMS certification, with surveys completed annually.
A multidisciplinary treatment team implements active treatment in work and program
areas as well in the residences. Professional staff are an integral component of the team.
Currently the program seeks to add a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Interested
